Since 2014

A clinic that tells you when you don’t need us

Ilse Varga opened Aplomb after years of watching patients sold twenty-visit packages before anyone had examined them. The rule here is simple: we assess first, we write down what it will take, and we discharge you as soon as you can manage on your own.

How a course of care runs

Every plan follows the same four stages. What changes is how long each one takes, and we tell you that on day one.

  1. Assess

A full history and examination on your first visit. We find the source of the pain, not just the place it hurts.

  2. Settle

Early visits calm things down: adjustment, mobilisation and soft-tissue work, usually a week apart.

  3. Strengthen

As the pain drops, we add exercises that make the change stick, with a short video of each one sent to your phone.

  4. Discharge

You leave when you can manage on your own. Most patients are discharged within six visits and come back only if something flares.

  5. Most patients are discharged within six visits.

If you are not improving by the third, we change the plan or refer you on. You will never be asked to prepay for visits you might not need.

Questions people ask on the phone

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can book a first visit directly. If your assessment shows something that needs a GP or a scan first, we tell you on the day and write the referral letter for you.

Does an adjustment hurt?

Most people feel pressure and then relief. We explain what we are about to do before we do it, and every technique has a gentler alternative. Nothing happens that you have not agreed to.

How many visits will I need?

Most of our patients are discharged within six visits. You get an honest estimate at the end of the first visit, written down with the cost, and we check it against your progress every time.

Can I claim on my health insurance?

Yes, with most UK insurers. We are recognised by the major providers and send the invoice in the format they ask for. Check your policy covers chiropractic before your first visit.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancel or move an appointment for free up to 24 hours before. Inside 24 hours we charge half the fee, unless you are unwell, in which case we waive it.

Is chiropractic safe in pregnancy?

Yes, with the right adaptations. Ilse uses a pregnancy table and side-lying techniques from the first trimester onwards and never works on the bump. Tell your midwife you are coming to us.
